Im Rahmen unseres Arbeitsgruppentreffens vom 05.03.2020 ging es um das Thema «5G: What do utilities are having in mind with 5G? Role of utilities and operators»

13 Teilnehmer und interessierte haben sich am Donnerstag in Zürich in den Räumlichkeiten der LIIP AG getroffen. Paolo Sebben von der effectas GmbH konnte auf Basis seiner Erfahrungen in den Bereichen ICT und der Energiebranche einen sehr guten überblick geben, was zu einem sehr guten Austausch nd einer guten Diskussion geführt hat.

Beginnend mit den Arten und Typen von Versorgungsunternehmen (und deren Interessen und bestehender Infrastrukturen) konnte anhand eines roten Fadens die Situation von Versorgungsunternehmen mit und ohne eigenes Glasfasernetz, und somit auch die Bedeutung von 5G für die unterschiedlichen Typen von Versorgungsunternehmen, sehr gut aufgezegt werden. Dem gegenüber wurden die unterschiedlichen Technologien der Datenübertragung mit all ihren Vor- und Nachteilen aus Sicht Betreiber gestellt, so dass ein gutes Gesamtbild gezeigt werden konnte.

Am Ende blieb keine Frage unbeantwortet. Die Beantwortung von Fragen, das Netzwerken und (natürlich) ein kühles Getränk am Ende gehören zu unseren Treffen dazu und machen diese erst zu dem, was sie sind. Mehrwertstiftend für alle.

Am 24.06.2020 findet unser nächstes Treffen statt. Dann zum Thema «Added value of cooperations of utilities in the field of data/data sharing». Dieses Treffen findet in Bern statt. Für das mögliche Inputreferat sind wir bereits in Gesprächen und hoffen hier in Kürze auch den/die Referenten/Referentin nenne zu können.

Ich freue mich auf das nächste Treffen und möchte Euch bitten, Eure Fragen und Anliegen wie besprochen in die Gruppe zu stellen.

Our working group meeting on 05.03.2020 dealt with the topic “5G: What do utilities are having in mind with 5G? Role of utilities and operators”

13 participants and interested parties met on Thursday in Zurich at the premises of LIIP AG. Paolo Sebben from effectas GmbH was able to give a very good overview based on his experience in the ICT and energy industry, which led to a very good exchange and discussion.

Starting with the types and types of utilities (and their interests and existing infrastructures), a red thread was used to illustrate the situation of utilities with and without their own fiber optic network, and thus the importance of 5G for the different types of utilities. On the other hand, the different technologies of data transmission with all their advantages and disadvantages from the operator’s point of view were compared, so that a good overall picture could be shown.

In the end no question remained unanswered. Answering questions, networking and (of course) a cool drink at the end are all part of our meetings and what makes them what they are. Added value for all.

Our next meeting will take place on 24.06.2020. Then on the topic “Added value of cooperations of utilities in the field of data/data sharing”. This meeting will take place in Bern. We are already in talks about the possible input paper and hope to be able to name the speaker here soon.
